| Our service significantly
reduces the amount of spam you receive without installing
any software on your computer. That's because we filter the
spam before you download it. Our system recognizes the spam,
sets it aside, and lets you download only the email you want
to receive.
Your email address will not change, nor do you need to open
a new email account.
We do this by putting our server between your computer and
your mail server. When your computer asks our server for your
email, we in turn ask your email server for your email. Once
we get your mail, we filter spam and unsolicted email into
a "holding area". Non-spam is seamlessly downloaded
to your email program.
How it all works
When you first sign up with our service, you will have an array
of SPAM filters
at your disposal. These filters are designed to block the
vast majority of SPAM while we 'train' our Bayesian
Filter to your useage.
Since everyone's email habits are different, our 'normal'
filters can be turned on and off by you at a granular level
letting you customise the filtering ensuring the most spam
is blocked, with the least false-positives.
False-positives are mails that we thought were spam, but
actually were legitamate. To combat this, we (optionally)
send you a mail once a night describing the mails we've filtered
in the last day. If there are any legitamate mails that have
been filtered, you can click on a link, and they will be downloaded
the next time you check your mail.
Conversely, if a spam message gets through our filters, there
is a link that you can click to report that mail as spam.
We use this report to tune our Normal Filters as well as automatically
train our Bayesian Filter to your email profile.
Once your get a 'corpus' of emails (approximately 50 good
and 50 bad mails), we'll ask you if you'd like to turn on
Bayesian Filtering. This will be tuned off of your previous
activity, and will catch much more spam with fewer false-positives.
